A few words...

Secondary Education Directorate of Karditsa Prefecture (Education Authority) is a decentralized service of the Greek Ministry of Education, Research, and Religious Affairs. Secondary Education Directorate of Karditsa is mainly responsible for the operation of all secondary educational institutions (lower and upper) within its area of operation, namely the prefecture of Karditsa. This covers a number of about 40 institutions (Gymnasiums, lyceums, and VETs) in a total of 7.000 students and about 1.000 teachers. Its main duties are implementation of central & regional educational policies, the appointment of new or substitute personnel, educational guidance and counseling, coordination of initiatives and innovations viable in the school classroom, the promotion of excellence and competence among pupils and teachers, and the implementation of school curricula.

Within its area of responsibility lies a vast number of educational resources (libraries, computer labs, physics and chemistry labs, offices for sustainable, ICT, and special education) along with the accumulated experience of its many tutors. It is, therefore, a specifically large and rather versatile organization that can achieve the right balance between size and performance. Communication networks available include fiber optics, private networks, and satellite signal reception. Collaboration with peer institutions and other educational governmental and NGO's (national and Εuropean) is also a standard characteristic. All systems used are qualified.

Our students have repeatedly competed and won prizes in competitions involving Science, Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics, and they have been chosen to represent our region in European programmes such as ‘'Euroscola." Moreover, several of our schools have participated in Debate competitions on a national level and won prizes. A teacher training on ‘'Rhetoric Education" was also held this year, and an increasing number of schools have expressed an interest in participating and forming debate teams. For the past two years, the Karditsa Directorate of Secondary Education has hosted a student conference at which students have had the floor.
